Step inside the dreamy salon of “Self” by The Parlour Room.

If you haven’t already discovered ‘Self’ then you are in for a real treat. Only a few doors down from the original location, Self is a newly designed concept salon by The Parlour Room. From the dreamy salon interior design to the endless treatment options available, Self is the ultimate pamper location if you are anywhere near the Eastern suburbs of Sydney.

Self was created with the intention to invite you to look after your skin, mind, body and, you guessed it, self. Founder Nat Papadopoulos explains, “ It’s always been an interest of mine to open an offering like Self and I think as I’ve grown older and I’ve become more and more comfortable in my own skin, my interest in skincare has grown too – it’s something I want to look after. And while we were offering facials at TPR I never truly thought we were delivering on the full experience, so when the space became available, I jumped on it. I’m also a perfectionist so anything I offer to our clients I want to make sure it is 100% perfect! And perfect we think it is! Self creates a bespoke experience tailored specifically to you and your needs. The treatments range from bespoke facials, invigorating body treatments, massages and infrared sauna visits. With something suitable for everyone, you are sure to walk out of the salon doors feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Continuing on with The Parlour Room’s signature style, Self is not only a beauty lovers paradise but also an interior designers delight. The monochromatic and textural palette instantly sets the tone of serenity and evokes a sense of calmness and clarity. From the crisp white bed linen to the bespoke joinery and furniture pieces found throughout, you can tell attention to detail was at the forefront of every decision. We spoke to Nat about the inspiration behind the interior of the salon and she had this to say, “ I wanted lots of natural light and our clients to instantly feel relaxed and calm as soon as they walked in. I worked with our designer Dani (The Make Haus) and pulled a lot of inspiration from my recent travels to Europe. Our theme was neutral, natural and beautiful. We focused on calming colour palettes, and mixing shapes and curves to bring depth and texture to the interiors. My fiance, Andrea is an incredible joiner (FAF.Woodwork) so we were able to custom make a lot of pieces specifically for the space; beautiful architectural finishes with contrasting materials such as marble, timber and stone. Marble was always non-negotiable. The natural colours and beautiful line formations are nature’s miracle, it’s beauty in its most natural state and that is the foundation of Self.
