Function, Lifestyle and Balance are the core philosophies at Studio PP, a boutique wellness studio owned by former Winter Olympian, and snowboard champion Steph Prem. With a focus on long-term personal improvement and growth rather than superficial, short-term impressions, Studio PP, an acronym for ‘premium performance’, is a lifestyle destination aimed to educate and inspire. It’s a wellness sanctuary for men and women alike to delve into their personal path of health and wellbeing.

With a list of high-profile clients under their training repertoire and an array of unique modern, functional movement classes on offer, this chic NewYork-inspired studio has it all, even their very own variety of destination wellness retreats that honour those philosophies, with an almost luxury-school-camp-for-adults type approach to retreating on offer. I’m talking the fun type, as opposed to its stereotypical predecessors of rigid wellness retreats with strict schedules, caffeine bans and 12 hours days packed with yoga class upon yoga class, juice fasts and awkward self-development workshops that are surprisingly ground-breaking, on a personal level…until you have to stand up and share the inner-workings of your most private self to a bunch of 12+ strangers (yes, this has been know to happen!).

Trust me…I’ve been to my fair share of wellness retreats, and what I loved about PP’s method, was their refreshing, friendly and balanced approach, with a focus on rest and recovery over depravation and physical punishment with workout upon workout. Want to sleep in? Sure, no worries. Skip a workout? Sure, cozy up on the couch and read a book. With a unique “you do you” approach this 4 day weekend retreat in beautiful Byron Bay, was the perfect type of a retreat, that was actually… relaxing. A mind-body reset and a much-welcomed chance to escape the busyness we live in and gain some much-needed clarity amongst the chaos.

So what to expect on a PP retreat?

When you book a PP wellness retreat, be prepared to let go of your stress and inhibitions. With a nourishing menu, daily exercise and wellness consult – each day’s activities are scheduled so you don’t have to think. Movement activities consist of nature walks, Pilates and stretch classes with mindfulness, self-reflection and goal-setting workshops (Run by the very motivating Steph) to help aid in your personal growth and discovery. Relaxing and restorative massage and facials were also on offer, along with a customised foot treatment by PP’s resident podiatrist Michelle Moyle of Integrated Podiatry Clinic.

Learn to cook easy, nourishing meals with celebrity spa chef and clinical nutritionist Samantha Gowing, who will arm you with the knowledge and confidence to continue your wellness journey far beyond your departure from the retreat. And, if you want to opt out of any particular element, go exploring on your own or curl up with a good book – that is ok, too – as is the opportunity to add more to your schedule with the likes of extra pampering easily organised at any given moment. With every PP retreat comes an opportunity to surrender yourself and hit the pause button on the “busy” and the “stress” of everyday life. Doing what makes YOU happy is the number one message of the weekend so…if that means not forgoing your morning coffee, than don’t worry, you may just not have to 😉

With every PP retreat comes an opportunity to surrender yourself and hit the pause button on the “busy” and the “stress” of everyday life.
