If you are a fan of fresh powdery slopes and a day out on the beautiful snow-capped mountain ranges then it’s no doubt you’d be familiar with the foreseeable arctic hands, flat phone and well… sore “toosh” if you happen to be a novice snowboarder like myself. So when Mercedes-Benz announces their installation of their new Star Lodge perched atop of Victoria’s Mount Buller – just a few steps from the tip of popular Bourke Street, you could only imagine the enthusiasm, not only we, but thousands of resort goers transmit.

In the fine tradition of the ‘warming huts’ that dot European and American ski fields, giving skiers and snowboarders a sheltered place to rest between descending the slopes, Mercedes-Benz wanted to extend their partnership and to provide a suitably luxurious resting spot for the thousands of skiers expected to flock to the resort this season.

Located approximately 1700 metres above sea level, the Star Lodge commands panoramic 180-degree views across not only Mount Buller Village but also nearby.

The Mercedes-Benz Star Lodge is open to the public and caters for all skiers and boarders, providing a place to rest in style. If you have ever lost your mates on the slopes and struggle to find them due to reception (yep, guilty!!) – no worries. Just make your way to the Star Lodge to connect to Wi-Fi, charge your phone. Or simply warm up your hands before hitting the slopes for another round of exhilaration.

Constructed with three shipping containers the luxury structure is built to resist cyclone-strength wind gusts, providing visitors with shelter from the changing elements as well as welcome warmth and comfort.

In addition to the Star Lodge, Mercedes-Benz has also supplied the Mount Buller Resort with a fleet of its capable SUVs, each specially fitted with snow tyres for operational use around the resort this season. Mercedes-Benz Australia-Pacific Managing Director and CEO Horst von Sanden skiing and snowboarding is a favourite pastime for many Mercedes-Benz owners and prospective customers.

“With the Star Lodge we give not just our customers, but every visitor a subtle taste of the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle with an invitation to enjoy our warm hospitality,” he said. “We created an innovative and interactive way for Mercedes-Benz to be at the heart of the action, right next to one of Australia’s busiest ski runs. “Various models from our SUV range including the GLE and seven-seat GLS are the perfect transportation to Mount Buller with a suitably luxurious journey for guests, and the capability to tackle snowy roads.

And can I tell you, after test-driving a couple of the cars from Melbourne to Buller, you wouldn’t want it any other way!
