When we start with a new exercise regime, we always expect sore muscles and feeling more tired, but are you aware of some of the more surprising things that can happen? We KNOW exercise is good for us, but do we know what actually happens when we start moving on the reg? Knowing why things are happening can help motivate us to press play on a TIFFXO workout. It’s not just increased energy and a stronger body that happens when you start to move, nor is it those days you can’t lift your fork up or even the fact you can now concentrate on your sudoku.

Check out some things that happen when you exercise:

 HAPPY fit
Starting a regular exercise routine like my TIFFXO program guarantees your life is going to get happier. I mean, it’s science! When we work out it rewards our body with an endorphin rush that not only promotes happiness but also helps block pain receptors, protecting you from both physical and emotional pain. You’ll soon be addicted to the sense of euphoria getting on a shine brings, and you won’t be leaving your Dojang anytime soon.

Mmmm I could go a TIFFXO Snack (Said every Ninja ever)
No seriously, you’re gonna find you’re actually craving super healthy foods to provide the nutrients it needs to fuel your exercise. Working out more regularly will mean your appetite may increase but guess what, you’re not necessarily going to reach for that packet of chips or that double choc brownie, you may surprise yourself by reaching for a more nutritious snack instead (Have you checked out my TIFFXO snack list yet?). There is a little phenomenon known as the ‘Transfer Effect’, when we learn new skills and start improving parts of our lives, it automatically triggers a desire for improvements in another. So pretty much, working out can inspire healthy cravings! Winning!

Hello Body, it’s me, Tiff.
You’re going to find now that your body is a Temple of Happyfit rather than a Den of Garbage that it’s a lot easier to tune in and listen to your body’s wants and needs. You’ll find now you’re not so clouded, you’re going to know what’s going on. So if you eat that deserved burger or get woken up by a tired baby (Thanks Arnie) your bod is going to respond in a way you can recognize.

Rock-a-bye zzzzzzz

I bet before you started with your new exercise program you didn’t always have the best night’s sleep. Stresses, lots of screen time and life can often affect your ability to get a proper and satisfying night’s sleep. By taking the time out for yourself to exercise during the day, you will tire out your body and it will help you sleep better at night. Sounds pretty great to me.

Superpower digestion and metabolism

Exercise regularly also superpowers your digestion. Before healthy living and a healthy diet, your digestive tract may have been sluggish and not performing as well as it could. Regular exercise improves blood flow throughout the body and will keep your digestive tract moving too. Say hello to a regular life. Bonus points too for when you start consistent exercise is that your metabolism will also speed up as you gain muscle, burning more and more calories. So even on those days when you’re falling into that 20% Naughty Ninja basket, you don’t have to worry about it as your body is responding to it more efficiently than ever before.

Light as a feather, toned as a board.
Even at the very beginning of your new journey of regular working out, your muscles will become stronger and you’ll begin to feel lighter (even when you’re gaining muscle). All of a sudden taking the stairs at work, picking up those dropped keys or even just throwing a ball around with the dog all become easy things that you want to do.

Get the noggin flowing
Get ready for some serious mental clarity coming your way. You’ll soon notice that your brain juices are flowing smoother and that focusing and thinking, in general, becomes a lot more clear. Getting your shine on actually increases blood pressure and blood flow everywhere in the body, bringing more energy and oxygen to the table, making the brain perform better.

Reaping the benefits of being motivated.
Working out and getting your shine on when you really don’t want to will give you more than a physical boost. While you’re staying committed to your workout, not only are you showing yourself that you can do hard things and make healthy changes, you are also conquering your mind of those nasty niggles. Your new found energy, drive and confidence will help you smash goals in every aspect of your life.

All of a sudden it’s a celebration
It’s a pretty nice lightbulb moment when the switch has been turned on and you realise you’re no longer approaching exercise as a chore or something to strike off your “to do” list, it’s something you’re genuinely excited to do and look forward to the shine. I’m all about fitness with meaning and making it fit into your life. Get happyfit with my and my Ninjas every day at tiffxo.com
