We are thrilled to announce our 2018 charity partnership with WildArk, a conservation organisation with a mission to protect as much of the world’s biodiversity as possible and to inspire people to connect with nature.

Each year we extend our support by partnering with a different charity to assist in raising awareness for the chosen cause. “We’re thrilled to partner with WildArk for 2018 and help share their message and the incredible new projects they’re embarking on to protect the world’s wildlife,” says A Conscious Collection Founder and Editor-in-Chief Brooke Meredith.

“It’s such a natural alignment with ACC, as we both strive to do our part and encourage others to be mindful of our human footprint, promoting a deeper relationship with Mother Nature and her inhabitants.”

WildArk was founded by passionate conservationists Mark and Sophie Hutchinson who are concerned about the perils facing the worlds wild places. Together with their team, they are working to protect our wild places to ensure they are protected for future generations.

After announcing their first conservancy in South Africa last year, WildArk are now embarking on their next project in the biodiversity-rich location of Papua New Guinea. The location is described as ‘one of the last major tropical island wilderness areas in the world, and one of the least explored on earth.’

The project is set to protect 42,000 acres of lush tropical rainforest from logging and palm oil plantations in partnership with the local community land owners. “The region is such a fascinating area of the planet and is home to such incredible biodiversity both on the land and in the water. The impact of the current logging on the entire environment including the reef is devastating and our plan is to complete significant biodiversity studies to understand the impacts,” said the Hutchinsons.

“This project contains all the ingredients of a holistic approach to conservation; rich biodiversity on community-owned land, local willingness and leadership, health, education and employment opportunities, and ability to greatly extend the conservancy into the future. Off the back of our first project the Pridelands Conservancy with our South African partners, the Tuke Rainforest Conservancy is a step up in scale and community engagement, so we’re very excited to see this commence.”
