Plants have a range of health benefits that make it advantageous for you to sprout a green thumb. Here’s some of our favourite (low maintenance) plants that can be the perfect addition to any home.

Rubber Tree – Ficus Elastica

Not only is the Rubber Tree decorative in colour and shape, it’s low maintenance and can survive in dim lighting and cooler climates. It makes a great domestic feature due to its ability to purify the air and eliminate toxins.

Snake plant – Sansevieria Ttrifasciata

Unique in appearance, the Snake Plant has spiky, mottled leaves and grows well with little water or light, making it the perfect choice for a corner decoration in your home. The Snake Plant completes its routine photosynthesis (turning carbon dioxide to oxygen) during the night, unlike most plants which do this during the day. Aloe Vera – Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera helps clear the atmosphere of several chemicals found in home cleaning products. When there’s an excess of pollutants in the air the leaves show small spots of yellow. As a bonus you can break the thick stems of the aloe and use it as a remedy to soothe sunburn and heal cuts.

Red Edge Dracena – Dracaena Reflexa

The Dracena family is a hardy species of plant, often growing to over 4 metres tall. Boasting vibrant colouring it will make a beautiful addition to any landscape. It also removes toxins such as xylene, trichloroethylene and formaldehyde from the air.

Peace Lily Spathiphyllum

The Peace Lily a common addition to indoor spaces because of its evergreen beauty, hardy nature and divine flowers. It’s also a clever addition to your home because it eradicates mould from the air. For this reason, it is advised that you position your peace lily in the bathroom or anywhere that is prone dampness. Our tip: Peace Lilies will let you know when they need to be watered by allowing their leaves to droop.
