Model, wellness ambassador and certified yoga teacher. These are just some of the titles Aussie model Ashley Hart has under her belt. And as the blistering sun shines down into the chic, boho-esque backyard of her Los Angeles home. With natural beauty and a down-to-earth attitude, it’s easy to see how the Aussie beauty has captured the hearts of people both at home and abroad. And as soon as you meet her, it’s clear her humble, wholesome demeanour extends long after the cameras stop rolling. For the self-confessed wellness junkie, it’s a way of life. But she admits living in the spotlight, alongside sister and Victoria’s Secret Model, Jess, isn’t
always as glamourous as it seems from the outside.
Ash admits she often felt the pressure of having to look a certain way, or to achieve to certain aesthetic.
“For many years I tried to be skinner,” she admits. “If I could have been taller I would have. I was always trying to fit into the role of what I thought people wanted me to be.”
This emphasis on thin being synonymous with beauty was what sparked Ash’s passion for wellness and inspired her to discover her own spirituality.
“The contrast of the modeling industry has given me that search to go deeper within myself and accentuates that life has a journey,” she says. “But essentially it’s breaking down all of my belief systems about what’s good and what’s not and getting in tune with what feels right and what works for me.”
“The baseline of my wellness is probably my spirituality, which is the driving force behind all of what I do,” Ash explains. “My main practice is to get in touch with my deepest truth, which has been such a huge journey. I’ve had many years of following fads, or following other people in what was perceived cool in health and wellness.
With a life of travel that the industry brings, Ash’s credits meditation with helping her find her sense of calm and resilience.
“The most beneficial thing I have got out of meditation is this thing they call adaptation energy. It comes from a deep level of rest and gives me the ability to adapt to change when life unexpectedly throws things at you, which it does.”
It was this journey that has led her to a life of wellness, spirituality and yoga which she is eternally thankful for.
“I’m finally at a place where I’m loving life. It’s beautiful to get to a place where we can have a beautiful relationship with ourselves and love who we are.”
Along with mediation, her active lifestyle and deliriously good looks, our Aussie girl living abroad leaves no wellness stone unturned. Currently undertaking studies to become a certified health coach, she is determined to continue the path of finding inner piece, her true self, and living a life of abundance.
Between her travels back and forth to Australia and abroad, Ash fills her days soaking up the LA sun, shopping at her local farmer’s market and hiking Runyon Canyon.
“What I’m really into at the moment is a high fat diet,” she says of her natural, organic approach to eating. “I’m obsessed with coconut butter, coconut oil and avocado. I love Bullet Proof Coffee with butter and the MCT oil.
With this lifestyle I’ve felt so many shifts within myself, it’s really sharpened me up, given me more confidence and more drive. The whole philosophy of eating fat and losing fat really does work.”
Despite living in the City of Angels for about close to five years, Ash says the excitement of LA still hasn’t warn off. Its anything-is-possible air and electric energy being two of its biggest drawcards.
“Because I travel so much, I’m never here so I feel like I’m still discovering LA. It feels very new, which is exciting.”
I’ve had many years of following fads, or following other people in what was perceived cool in health. Essentially it’s breaking down all of my belief systems about what’s good and what’s not and really, getting in tune with what feels right and what works for me.
So with a successful modelling career and, a positive and wholesome approach to life, it’s pretty evident this bronzed beauty has life figured out. Despite living out some personal and relationship obstacles in the public eye, with a recent separation, she believes everything happens for a reason. “It’s an ongoing journey, everything is constantly changing now, a big part of it is being able to adapt constantly”. And it’s this positivity and genuine belief that truly showcases Ash’s tender and loving soul. Thanks Ash, time for us to book in those mediation classes and take a leaf out of your book.
