Sometimes we find ourselves in some truly remarkable places. In this instance it was brought to our attention just how incredibly lucky we are. As I hopped off a private boat and was welcomed to a secluded bay of postcard worthy accommodation, I couldn’t help feel an overwhelming sense of joy and a sense of gratitude for the journey that had brought me here. When I started this blog, by no means did I ever think it would bring me to the incredible places I had once only dreamt about. Hard work, determination, and the willpower to keep going (when at times I really wanted to give up) was undeniably rewarded by the beauty that was right before my eyes.

“Welcomed with open arms, I found my self checking into Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, truly ready to switch to holiday mode and lap up my tranquil surroundings.”

After a week of traveling through Vietnam; early mornings, late nights, full day tours and sleeper buses (yes these are a thing) we were welcomed to Six Senses where we could finally enjoy a little R&R before embarking on the rest of our “adventurous” trip. This place is nothing like I had ever seen before; private villa’s are dotted along the white sandy bay here and there around the tropical island, with accommodation nestled amongst the pristine tropics and cliff side with pools carved into the rocks. It’s no wonder that Six Senses is home to those who want to escape the hustle and bustle. It’s proximity to Nha Trang is around a half hour drive, then a 10 minute private boat charter. The calm and sheltered bay was a beautifully welcomed contrast to the popular tourist areas we had previously been exposed to. This was a wellness retreat dream; quiet, tranquil and had everything a health enthusiast needed – plus more.

We stayed in one of the gorgeous 2 story Beachfront Pool Villas which are constructed of all natural and sustainably sourced materials, had more space than you could ever need and a private plunge pool situated a couple of steps away from the pristine beach. Each villa came equipped with personal bikes to use throughout the stay, allowing us to discover and explore the bay of Six Senses on the majestic paths winding through the islands natural beauty, truly allowing us to embrace the sounds of nature, share the fruit with the monkeys and best of all escape the sounds of traffic which we hadn’t escaped the previous week.  It was quiet, romantic and absolutely surreal.

It’s no secret that Six Senses Hotels, Resorts and Spas’s are famous for their exceptional service and facilities and Ninh Van Bay certainly exceeded all of these expectations. It was the perfect spot to rest and rejuvenate and truly was every health enthusiast’s heaven. If spa treatments and relaxing by the pool are a little too quiet for you, they offer an abundance of recreational activities, water sports and excursions; the list is endless and we wished we had more time there to explore all the opportunities on offer.

My favourite activity was without a doubt joining the Six Senses Vietnamese cooking class. We started in the resorts own organic vegetable garden, full of herbs, fruits and vegetables, picking our fresh ingredients for our cooking preparation before continuing on in a beautiful outdoor kitchen. We learnt to cook traditional Vietnamese hand rolls , Hai San Kho To (seafood simmered in clay-pot) and Canh Chua Ca (hot and sour fish soup). Even though I am an avid cook myself I loved learning about the traditional methods and tasting the exquisite flavours of Vietnamese Cuisine.

If anyone is traveling to Vietnam, I cannot recommend Six Senses enough. It truly is the best place I’ve ever stayed at and I can’t wait to visit the rest of the Six Senses Resorts as I continue my travels.
